Notice to Area Businesses and Residents:
Unfortunately we are beginning to witness more & more forms of fraud within our community – this time of year especially. One of our local businesses received a call from someone claiming to be from the local Chamber of Commerce on 12/11/17. The caller began asking general questions, but became aggressive and demanded information about the business. Upon receipt of this information, we notified both Mr. Rothe and Mr. Knoblock, as well as Erin at City Hall. It is VERY important to know exactly whom you are speaking with when receiving calls such as this. Please DO NOT give out any personal information via the telephone.
Typically the only Chamber of Commerce calls you would receive will be from either Nick or Kelsey. We try our best to have most correspondence filter through e-mail, mailings & personal visits. My biggest fear would be for this scam to escalate into something much larger…by scammer’s asking for donations & the like! Should you receive any calls from someone claiming to be from the Chamber, PLEASE notify us immediately.
